"NOT-SO-SUPER-SIDEKICKS!"

Okay...so here's the scoop. This strip features the first time a comic of mine has included "grayscale" coloring. Well...in the black and white format, that is. I decided to try it to see how it looked printed in the paper and I gotta say I like it. I just may try to adopt a more "grayscale color" approach to all my black and white strips. Additionally, this is the debut of SuperAshtyn who may OR may not end up actually becoming the not-so-super-sidekick to one Not-So-Super-Man. Seeing as how I only do about four NSSM comics a year, I'll just have to see how this strip evolves the character. He obviously isn't too keen on a sidekick anymore (or so it seems), but what would happen if one of these characters doesn't take 'no' for an answer. SuperAshtyn being that character. As a side note, the SuperAshtyn character is loosely based on a former art student of mine. You may have read her bazillion comments here on the comics blog. Anyway...she's a great kid and a really good artist in her own right. I'm hoping that EVENTUALLY she'll draw a comic so that I can print it for her as I have a few other former students in the past. Maybe this will inspire her. GET WORKING ASHTYN!!!
Later, yo!

HEY!!! I love it! I did see it last week but I totally forgot to leave a comment(shocker right?) anyway... even though I may or may not be the sidekick it is good enough that I at least got to be in a comic.(but I would still really like to be the sidekick) on that note I would just like to say that I don't think that me drawing a comic is in the cards but... you never know. I could suprise you and make a whole book of comics over the summer.((HAHA)) Guess you will just have to wait.

Hey, Ash. Yeah...you can expect to see more SuperAshtyn in the future. I was brainstorming some ideas recently for the next few installments of NSSM and a kid sidekick is definitely what he needs! Look for the next one sometime in August...I think. Congrats and welcome to the world of I DIG DUG!
On a side note...surprise me...PLEASE!!! I need a "Chewy" story. That was the name of your character that was a piece of chewed up gum, wasn't it? HA! That was funny!!! Why don't you sign up to take my Creative Cartooning class this summer? I'll get you a Summer Art Camp flyer this week!

All the way in August... I don't know if I can wait that long. I would like a flyer to your art class this summer.
