"Cloverfield"

So, this past summer I went to see Transformers and saw this amazing preview for a movie that had no title listed with it. I was amazed. Especially when I saw the scene where the head of the Statue of Liberty crashes on a New York City street. What was this? What was it called?
Well eventually we all learned it was called "Cloverfield" and that it was going to be released on 1-18-08. Some claimed it was an update of Godzilla, some thought it was Voltron (...seriously?...), but all in all it was neither.
I went to see "Cloverfield" this past weekend with Matt, Smitty, Dave, and Rock and let me tell you it was pure AWESOME!!! The creature they created for this movie was incredible. Ths story itself had some minor flaws, but if you were willing to believe that a giant monster can wreck havoc in New York, then you also had to be willing to believe the dude's video camera's battery would last 17 hours!
Anyway...the big news with this movie was the shaky camera work. I remember seeing Blair Witch Project and nearly getting sick in the theatre. My friends remember similar experiences. But...we went in hoping for the best. Well...Smitty left the theatre after about half an hour and watched the rest standing up. There were times a few other friends of mine had to gather their senses by closing their eyes or look at the floor for a few mintues. Me? Well....let's just say that I managed to watch the whole movie, but I couldn't eat my popcorn while watching. That made me feel a little ill.
Anyhoo...great movie which inspired this great I DIG DUG comic!!! ENJOY!!! I'll (finally!) try getting this one colored for the blog this week, and you can enjoy this comic in this weekend's Hometown Connection!
